Project activities

The proposed work will be broken down into 7 work packages (WPs).

The first 3 WPs group the main research activity of this project. Together they will develop a broadly founded overview and understanding of relevant socio-technical challenges and of approaches to tackle these challenges in national and international contexts. Three complementing perspectives will cover:

    - the national and international experience on the correlation of social-political and technical challenges (WP1),

an assessment of mechanisms regarding the interaction of technical and social challenges (WP2), by looking more closely at a selected number of specific socio-technical challenges, and

    - a mapping of the interactions between producers and users of socio-technical knowledge on radioactive waste management, thereby focussing on the current place and (potential) future role of the IGD-TP in this network (WP3).

WP4 links the research activity to the practice of radioactive waste management and geological disposal by offering concluding reflections and recommendations to the IGD-TP and other interested parties.

WP5 & WP6 together provide horizontal support through the organisations of seminars, the creation of a project website, and other dissemination activity. Finally, WP7 addresses the management of the project.
